About SpotMi
SpotMi is a product developed by Mångfaldsakademien.
The idea started with the realization on how difficult it is to find companies and organizations offering their products and services in English or Spanish (yes, you got it right – even in English!). It struck me as missed business opportunity, since more than 20% of the population has another native language than Swedish.
Through my LGBT friends I realized that this target group - as well as their supporters – are usually very loyal to companies and organizations which are openly supporting LGBT values. Most companies are missing out on this, since there’s no good way to display this on a continuous basis.
The realization hit home: Of course! The current norm to become successful in Sweden is “To be Swedish, To talk Swedish and To be normal” (whatever this ‘normal’ stands for). Hence, most people and companies in Sweden are actively doing what it takes to fit into this norm. Even if it means missing out on business opportunities. Needless to say, this isn’t sound business thinking.
Hence, I started to develop a product which allowed companies to become business smart in regards to Diversity. A product which meets the need in the market in regards to Language abilities, LGBTQ preferences, Disability and service to Parents.
The idea to SpotMi had come about and soon started to develop into a ready product.
